Nagatinsky zaton metro station

Moscow, Russia

The concept of Nagatinsky zaton Moscow metro station is connected with the place. «Zaton» means: «the river cove», and the architects used natural and quite obvious images — river inhabitants. Moscow fish fauna was carefully studied and 12 fish species were drawn with encyclopedic accuracy. The images will be worked into granite mosaic wall panels. It is a kind of underground museum dedicated to river inhabitants. The building above ground level is simple and is made entirely of glass, but at the entrance passengers will plunge into the station aesthetics – the pavilion ceiling is covered with stylized golden fish scales.
