Noginsk house
Noginsk, Russia
At the basis of the architecture are natural forms, specifically a maple leaf than it crimples while it dries up. The house consists of three units – wings which are «curled» by a long corridor as in famous maple leaf origami design. The corridor is a central axis of the building and linked to all the house spaces. The minor building wing consists of a study and a library; beyond on the other side of the corridor is a car-shed which is linked to the major residential unit – the wing with master bedroom with a boudoir, a bathroom and a dressing room; two nurseries with separate bathrooms. The third wing includes public areas of the house – a living room combined with a dining room and a kitchen. The rest area of the wing is used for staff rooms, utility rooms and a guest bedroom. There are only two materials used in external finishing – concrete and glass which cover joints between pieces of outer cover. The outer cover is composite and consists of two layers – first one is monolith cover which is forming a whole framework of the building and covered with extruded foam board and another is solid-cast cover over the first one which protects building from moisture and forming the house exterior. The concrete foreside finishing has a special water-proof coating.
