Country house Mont.Coul.Ter
In this project, the client is a small construction company that has been working with the design studio za bor for many years. The house was designed by specialists from the company, and the design studio was invited to develop the interiors. The client requested a “bright but friendly” interior that seamlessly integrates into the complex multi-level space they had created.
The house has a unique layout and spatial structure with a complex plan featuring many unconventional angles. Additionally, the building has multiple levels with articulations and height variations.
The most challenging part was the basement floor, which houses the SPA area (partially covered by a glass lantern), garage, and technical rooms. The architects filled this multi-level space by focusing on the functional centerpiece—the pool basin. The darkest part of this floor was allocated for the sauna and hammam, while the main relaxation area is situated between the pool and steam rooms.
The tall first floor is divided into two main blocks: to the left of the entrance are the common areas—a spacious living room with a fireplace, dining area, and kitchen—spaces where the characteristic geometric techniques of the za bor studio are prominently displayed. To the right of the entrance are two guest bedrooms and a separate utility block with its own entrance.
On the second floor, there is a small living room with vertical greenery, which over time will be filled with plants and become a small winter garden; there is also a spacious study with floor-to-ceiling windows, two master bedrooms, and a children’s room.
The third floor is relatively small and dedicated to a billiard room.
